Andrew is a networking and IT security professional with over 14 years of experience. He is a specialist in advising fintechs on their compliance with UK and EU IT security regulatory requirements.
Andrew has worked as a senior IT security consultant assisting firms in the UK, Europe, and the US and as a technology consultant for the R&D arm of a leading UK consumer electronics firm.
Before joining FM, he was a security specialist at Oxford University, where he worked for the Computer Emergency Response Team (OxCERT). In this role, he was responsible for incident response, developing incident classification schemes and playbooks, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
He was a member of the EPC’s Euro Retail Payments Board’s Working group on SEPA migration issues and chaired the fraud and security subcommittee of a leading electronic money trade body.
Originally a principal lecturer and a founding member of the network and communications research group at Kingston University. He has published more than twenty papers and patent submissions in the fields of wireless networking, network security, location-based technologies and pattern recognition. He is a programme member and a previous keynote speaker at the IEEE Cyber Science series of conferences.
Andrew has a doctorate in artificial intelligence, visual cognition, and the application of pattern matching algorithms to handwriting recognition. He also holds an MSc in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and a BSc in Computer Science.
